Halloween is upon us..... and I'm SOOO not ready!

Yes.... it's my FAVORITE time of year... .actually, it our whole family's favorite time of year. Not sure if it's because we claim we've got a little witch in each of us or we love to use this time of year as a chance to share our insane creativity with the world. hehehee! I just know that as a kid this has always been the time of year that I look forward to the most. Yes, more than Christmas. We had so many traditions with my family that we'd HAVE to do every year. Living next door to all my cousins on mom's side of the family has always been a treat. We celebrated everything together. For Halloween, we'd take turns having a BIG Lasagna dinner at either our house or one of my mom's sisters' houses. We'd pile up all the kids in a van or the back of a pick up truck and drive all through Forsyth County to visit all of our other aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and church friends. I'd always eat WAY too much candy and would get sick before we'd even make it back to the house. You'd think we'd figure out I had blood sugar problems at that point, but it all makes sense now. Then we'd have our big dinner and go through all the candy dividing up all the good candy from the fruit and the bad candy. We'd start our negotiations with each other at that point....I trade you 3 Hershey bars for your 3 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.... then my cousin Brian would be sent home with all of our raisins. Funny thing is, YEARS later he told us how bad he hated them and would mark the boxes and put them back in the candy pile.... just to see how many boxes he'd get back every year. I feel sorry for the kid that actually liked them.... nasty! Once business was taken care of, then we'd disappear to watch scary movies.

Yucky! I can smell the nastiness now.... hehehehe!

Halloween one year at The Shoemakes.... I think. Maybe it was pre-Halloween since we weren't all dressed up.

Ah... those were the days. Days that one day Megan, Julie and I plan on picking back up when we have kids. Lasagna and all!

But here I am.... it's already Oct. 8th and I haven't set out ONE Halloween decoration and I'm just now getting my Halloween costume pulled together. What's going on? That's not like me at all. I mean, I will admit that Megan has a majority of my Halloween decorations in her attic from annual parties we have at her house, but I don't have even one out. My costume should be great if I can only figure out how on earth to connect my "hair" to my real hair and still be able to function without spending the night with my head tilted funny so it would stay.... that and my shorts.... not sure how I'm going to get those to work either. In case you were wondering.... I'm "building" myself a Red Fraggle costume! hehehee! LOVE my Muppets! I figured this one would be pretty fun to create.... just a little on the hard side to make it all work out, but as soon as I get it figured out, I'll be sure to post up pictures from the party.

So... in the spirit of Halloween, I'll leave you with some party pictures from the past. Enjoy!
